The Enugu State College of Education (Technical) Enugu was established by the State House of Assembly Law No. 2 of 11th April, 2006 to be an institution for teaching, research and study of eduction. The primary purpose of the college is to prepare its students for professional teaching and for other positions of responsibilities in education and industr
The state Government, on establishment of the College, directed the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu to vacate its campus II, Abakaliki Road premises to accommodate the new college, it also directed the closure of the Science and Vocational Teachers Education (SSVTE) of the IMT and transfer of all its staff and student to form the foundation staff and student of the new College. The Government then renovated and refurbished some of the building and equipment inherited from the IMT to enable the college take-off.
College Educational Programmes
NCE Programme
The College secured approval from the National Commission for College of Education to commence operation as a college Education ( Technical) effective from 2006/2007 academic year. As the nature of the College implies, the College focuses on teaching and research in the much-needed field of Business, Science Technical and Vocational Education leading to the award of Nigeria Certificate in Education(NCE).
PDE Programme
In addition to running the Nigeria Certificate in Education(NCE), the College also runs a one year Technical Teacher Certificate (TTC) Programme in Education – a post – graduate course for those who wish to obtain teaching qualification. However, with due regards to the philosophy and policy thrust of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) , the college Academic Board approved the transition from the Technical Teachers Certificate (TTC) to Professional Diploma in Education (PDE), hence the College now runs PDE Programme in place of TTC Programme.
Degree Programme
Following the approval of the affiliation of the school of Education (formerly of the INT) by the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Senate and Subsequent preliminary resource inspection by a combined team of officials from the National University Commission (NUC) and Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU), the NUC approved the college’s affiliation arrangement with Nnamdi Azikiwe University for the following drgree programme, viz.
B.Ed. Business Education
B.Ed. Vocational Education
B.Ed. Science Education
B.Ed. Technical Education
B.Ed. Educational Foundation.
The College Degree Programme actually commenced from 2009/2010 academic session, henceits maidain martriculation Ceremony was held on 18th December, 2009.
